Franklin Luzes

Franklin joined Microsoft back in October 2002 as part of the Development Platform and Evangelism (DPE) organization. Throughout his career, Franklin had a number of successes including the creation of an investment holding company (Microsoft Participações), the foundation of a business Post-Accelerator focused on emerging technology-based startups (Acelera Partners), and the creation of a Pre-Series A Investment Fund in Brazil. Prior to Microsoft, Franklin was the co-founder and CEO of an Internet start-up in Rio de Janeiro, MHW S.A, for 7 years. He managed two business rounds of venture capital investments with national and international VC Firms and, finally, he successfully managed and negotiated the company acquisition by Xerox.



Paulo Werneck

Managing Director at BESI Grupo Novo Banco

Paulo joined the BESAF team as Executive Director on April 2011. He has 30 years worth of experience on the financial market. Started his career in 1983 and worked for several Brazilian and international financial institutions such as Unibanco (FX Treasury), Citibank (Treasury and Global Capital Markets), Banco Rabobank (Treasury) and Ministry of Finance’s Economic Policy Secretariat. Also served as Executive Director of Treasury on ABN AMRO Banco Real in 1998, on Banco ABN AMRO REAL Asset Management in 2003 and in 2007 as Executive Director of Icatu-Hartford Seguros, responsible for the Asset Management of the group. Participated in several forums and committees on ANBID and ANBIMA , BM&F and others. Paulo has taken a specialization course – AMP – Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School, International Executive MBA at Universidade de São Paulo – FEA/FIA and graduated in System Analysis. He was also a professor on IBMEC/RJ and FGV/DF of several financial market courses.



Eduardo Grytz

Fouding Partner at Performa Investimentos

Eduardo is a founding partner at Performa Investimentos, where he is responsible for the management of Performa’s funds. He holds a B.A degree in Industrial Engineering from Polytechnic School of the University of São Paulo (POLI) and Law from the Law School from University of São Paulo (Largo do Sao Francisco), and is a CFA Charter holder since 2009. Eduardo started his career at Bank of Boston and worked with Venture Capital and Private Equity at Bank Boston (BancBoston Brazil). He is a former board member at the Brazilian Venture Capital Association. Eduardo has more than 17 years of Private Equity and Venture Capital industry practice and participated in over 20 deals.



Duarte Mineiro

Principal at Espiríto Santo Ventures

Duarte has a degree in Industrial Engineering from IST (Lisbon) and later took an MBA from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth. He worked for over 10 years in strategic consulting and senior management (BCG 1998-2010) in a few different countries. Besides, he has over 9 years of direct management in various industries, with extensive experience in coordinating teams, in supporting the decision-making and implementation of restructuring programs. In addition, he has 5 years of experience in VC and PE and as a member of the Board of several companies, and has extensive international expertise (working in countries as different as USA, Spain, France, England, Germany and Mozambique). Fluent in English, French, Spanish and Italian. Duarte grew up to become a firm believer of “learning by doing” and as such, he embodies the true spirit of collaboration, teamwork and respect for the individual. Nothing seems more enthusiastic for him than spending his energy together with the promoters to either close a deal of solve issues and make things happen.



Moises Swirski PhD

Moises Swirski is the Founder and Managing Partner at MSW Capital, a company dedicated to renewal and value creation of small and midsize enterprises. MSW Capital has already coordinated more than 100 projects involving M&A transactions, valuation of target companies, interim management and corporate EDUCATION.  Moises is also currently the Head of Odebrecht’s Entrepreneurial Development Program (PDE) that helps accelerate careers of selected leaders. Prior to MSW Capital, Moises was Co-founder and Dean of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro Business School/COPEEAD, Founding Partner of PDG – a pioneer organization for the education of senior executives in Brazil, Member of the Technical-Scientific Committee of the Brazilian National Research Board and Faculty at Columbia University Senior Executive Program.Moises Swirski holds a BSc degree in Electrical Engineering from UFRGS, a MSc degree in Production Engineering from COPPE/UFRJ and a PhD in Finance from the Stern Business School/NYU.








Rodrigo Menezes

Rodrigo has represented foreign and local investment funds, companies and entrepreneurs in several venture capital deals in a wide variety of industries, including internet, cosmetic, e-commerce, consumer, healthcare, technology, telecom, energy and general industries. He is the coordinator of the Entrepreneurship and Venture capital committee of ABVCAP (Brazilian Venture Capital Association). He is a frequent speaker and guest lecturer in several universities in Brazil, such as FGV and INSPER, teaching legal aspects of venture capital and private equity investments for graduation and post-graduation programs. He is also a panelist in several conferences and seminars regarding legal aspects of venture capital and private equity investments from distinct schools and associations in Brazil and internationality, such as FIU – Florida International University (Americas Venture Capital Conference), USP – University of São Paulo, ABVCAP, Anjos do Brasil, Finep and Endeavor. He is author and contributor of several articles on venture capital and private equity, including Multijurisdictional Guide 2013 – Venture Capital Chapter for Brazil, published by Practical Law Company (the “PLC Handbook”).”

Carlos Kokron

Carlos Kokron is a Managing Director, Latin America based in São Paulo, Brazil. Carlos has 15 years of experience in the ITC industry, having invested and worked with young and growth stage technology companies as a VC/PE investment professional in LatAm and the US for over 10 years. Prior to joining Qualcomm Ventures he was responsible for Intel’s business with Service Providers in Latin America. Earlier Kokron was Director of Intel Capital for Latin America and Southwest US and partner at Stratus Group in Brazil responsible for the firm’s Growth Capital platform. He started his career as an engineer in process industries having positions in operations and process engineering, as well as strategic planning and corporate finance at Unilever in Brazil and at Unocal 76 (now Chevron) in California. Kokron holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in Chemical Engineering and has earned his MBA from the Haas School of Business at U.C. Berkeley.
